During the last school year Notre Dame students raised funds to buy cows for CAFOD. This was put into action by Cara, one of our Sixth Form students. Because of her determination and courage, Notre Dame raised over £3,000 for CAFOD!!! That’s over 30 cows! Well done to everyone and thank you Cara for your support.
The pictures below show the first meeting of the students taking part in the young leaders CAFOD programme. The leadership programme was open to all students who are passionate about campaigning and being involved with fundraising opportunities for CAFOD.
The programme will inspire and equip students to encourage others to participate in the school and maybe their parish communities. CAFOD provide information and resources to help students make sense of the world we live and take action in the context of faith values. This experience of working with CAFOD fits prefectly with our school ethos.
In other news, a group of our Y8 students (pictured below) recently met at Saint Bernard's school for the first HYCL (Hallam Young Chaplaincy Leaders) meeting. They met other young chaplaincy leaders, got to know each other, and decided on worthwhile projects to get involved in. This year they have chosen to collect items for the homeless again. Collected items will be delivered closer to Christmas. Students are currently in the process of deciding on fundraising ideas so they can buy rucksacks and other items for the homeless.
