World Book Day at Notre Dame

World Book Day is designated by UNESCO as the biggest worldwide celebration of books and reading. It is celebrated in over 100 countries all over the world. This year it fell on Thursday 2nd March and our English teachers marked the event by dressing up as characters from 'Harry Potter'!

Here at Notre Dame, we believe that reading for pleasure is something to be encouraged. On World Book Day, we worked specifically with all Year 7 and 8 pupils to promote reading and inspire them to explore the pleasure and delight of books. We delved into a whole host of books, characters and authors, allowing our students to discover even more books and authors they’ll love every bit as much in the future.

All students received a Book Token which will allow them to spend their voucher in a participating book shop and use it to pick one of ten books, which will be completely free with the voucher. They can also use their voucher to get £1 off any book or audio book of their choice.

By taking part in World Book Day, Notre Dame is taking part in a worldwide scheme to enhance reading. So, let’s get reading!
