Huntington Research School, York, is delighted to announce that it will be working with Notre Dame High School, Sheffield who have recently been designated as one of only seven national Associate Research Schools. Research Schools are a network of establishments across the country tasked with engaging teachers with the best research evidence in order to develop effective policy and practice within our schools. Funded by the Education Endowment Foundation, Research Schools have a mission to improve the outcomes for disadvantaged students in all schools, both secondary and primary.

The Sheffield Associate Research School at Notre Dame High School will support the work of Huntington Research School here in Sheffield and in South Yorkshire by providing the training, professional learning and support for local teachers that is needed.

Jane Elsworth, Director of Huntington Research School, said:

“This is an exciting new phase for Huntington, and national Research School network, reflecting the interest in accessing high quality, relevant research that enables schools to make evidence-informed decisions to support their staff and students. Our new Associate Research School in Sheffield will help us offer even more bespoke support to schools in the city and region.”

Steve Davies, Headteacher of Notre Dame High School, said:

“We are delighted that Notre Dame has been named as an Associate Research School, to work with Huntington Research School. We have learned so much working with them to date and are very excited that this relationship is moving forward.

The Notre Dame community has a long history not only educating children all round the world, but training the teachers who provide that education. We are founded on the belief that excellent education makes a difference in the life of every child and that this difference is greatest for those children who face the biggest challenges. The work of the research schools is all about building the expertise of the teaching profession, especially when confronting the biggest barriers that children face. Through the role of Associate Research School, we look forward to a new chapter in the way we contribute to this work.”

Stephen Betts, Chief Executive Learn Sheffield, said:

“Learn Sheffield have worked with Huntington Research School over the past two years to develop the impact of research informed practice in the city, as part of our ‘Research Led Sheffield’ priority. The designation of Notre Dame as an Associate Research School will accelerate this work and continue to build capacity within the city and the region. This is an exciting new partnership and we congratulate both Notre Dame and Huntington on being one of only seven successful applications nationally."
