Pictured above is a very proud Alice of Notre Dame's Y10. She was the winner, out of 18 students, of the French and German Song Class in the prestigious David Clover Music Festival on Friday 2nd February. She was one of two under-16 recital finalists chosen to compete on Sunday evening (this involved singing 3 songs, including one in another language, and one unaccompanied) on Saturday 3rd February.
On Sunday 4th February Alice performed both her winning French song, and her recital programme, in the concert finals in the Kenwood Hall Hotel. She gave her performance in front of the adjudicator, many other finalists (some winners of other classes in her age range, but most substantially older than Alice) with their families and supporters, and various members of the public and officials of the festival. Here she was awarded the first prize for the under 16 recital. She was also awarded a silver salver, the prize for the most promising female singer under the age of 16.
The David Clover Music Festival is one of only two all-singing music festivals in the UK. Throughout the festival weekend singers from age 9 to adult compete in a large number and wide variety of song classes. People come not just from Sheffield but from a wide area around Yorkshire and Derbyshire to take part.
Many congratulations Alice , from the music department at NDHS !
