Visiting a Monastery

Our school chaplain, Suzanne, recently took a group of students to visit the enclosed order at the Carmelite Monastery in High Bradfield, Sheffield.  Here's what Suzanne had to say about the visit: "First of all we met with the Mother Prioress for 20 minutes and then spent the rest of the time with Sr Rosarii for over an hour.  We were able to ask Sr Rosarii questions about her vocation and about her vow of silence.  We discovered she had joined the order of Carmelites in 1979 and has been there ever since.  Afterwards, we visited the chapel and then stayed for tea and biscuits.  We spent some money in the card shop buying gifts for our friends and family.  We really enjoyed our time there and it was inspiring to listen to someone talk about giving up their whole life for God in prayer.

In other news, on the twelfth of July three members of the chaplaincy team, Adam, Alfie and Alexander, visited the Mother of God church on London Road.

Here's what Alexander (Y9) had to say about he visit: "We joined up with the other Young Hallam Catholic Leaders from the other schools in the Hallam diocese. At a previous meeting we had decided to make soup and sandwiches for the elderly so that is what we did! When we arrived at the church hall, we all helped to prepare and make the soup and sandwiches and set out what we could on the tables. We then celebrated Mass in the church and afterwards the congregation went to the church hall for the lunch we had prepared. After lunch we entertained the guests by playing a few games of bible bingo which they seemed to really enjoy. It was hard work that day but ended a year full of chaplaincy life."
