The perfect combination

Students soon feel at home in our Sixth Form’s friendly and supportive environment. Our teachers are always available to offer the advice and guidance you need to help you adapt to the new challenges and more independent way of studying that A-levels bring. We believe that we offer the ideal preparation for life beyond the Sixth Form, through the perfect combination of exceptional teaching, comprehensive support and guidance, 21st century facilities, beautiful grounds and a strong Christian focus on respect, care and encouragement. Our outstanding results show that we have high expectations of our students and that we provide an environment in which students can meet those expectations. We believe strongly in the value of each individual student. You will have a dedicated personal tutor who you will see regularly to discuss your progress. Their role is to push, stretch and support you. They also advise you on progression to employment and Higher Education.

Success across the curriculum

Our Sixth Form benefits from our Teaching School status, because our teachers are involved in cutting edge research and training. Our results have been consistently well above the national average, including the achievement of high grades. Results such as these provide the perfect launch pad for successful university applications and routes into the world of work, in today’s increasingly competitive climate. We offer our students a wide range of A-level subjects. A range of challenging enrichment activities helps to ensure that your personal development can match your academic achievements and you will leave us as a well-rounded individual. Your subject teachers and form tutor will provide you with all the support you need to make a successful transition to A-level study. Successful whole class teaching will be complemented by small group and individual ‘tutorial’ work to help develop your independent study skills, crucial for university study and the world of work.

A world of Opportunities

To prepare our students for the future, we aim to develop their leadership skills, critical thinking and teamwork through enrichment activities including the Duke of Edinburgh’s award and working with staff to run whole school events including CAFOD day and Sports day. When it comes to getting students ready for the transition into the competitive world of business, we have built relationships with major international business organisations. We encourage our students to contribute to our community with volunteering activities, including support work in local primary schools.

A welcoming Catholic community

Notre Dame High School draws strength from the tradition of excellence in education established by St Julie and the Sisters of Notre Dame. Being a Catholic school is important to us in so many ways. We encourage our students to put their gifts and talents at the service of others and to treat every individual with dignity.

The next step

Our guidance programme will help you consider career options and offer practical advice about applying for a university place or employment. We know we have done our job well when our students have developed academically, personally and spiritually and they leave us fully prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
