As the new academic year begins, staff members gathered on Monday, 2nd September, for our first staff training day. It was so good to see everyone again and to meet our new staff. The day provided opportunities to come together as a community, ready to face any challenges and joys of the year ahead.
We were particularly blessed to have Fr. Geoff celebrate Mass for us, marking a beautiful and reflective close to the day. The Mass was not just a ceremonial start to the year; it was a moment of spiritual connection, a time to pause and prepare our hearts and minds for the important work we do.
The liturgy was uplifting, filled with beautiful singing (grateful thanks go out to Mr Loftus, Mr Ward, Mrs Francis, Mrs Scriven), that resonated throughout the salle, creating an atmosphere of peace, joy and unity. Fr. Geoff’s homily provided a powerful message that we could all take away and reflect upon: “Love one another and make the students feel loved.”
These simple yet profound words remind us of our school mission statement ‘Sharing the love and goodness with everyone’.
In the hustle and bustle of daily school life, it’s so easy to get caught up in tasks and forget the true essence of our work. Fr. Geoff’s message serves as a vital reminder that at the heart of our profession lies a deep commitment to love and care for our students. This love is not just about academic success; it’s about nurturing the whole person, helping each student recognise their worth and potential.
Hallmark 7: ‘We develop holistic learning communities which educate for life’.
As we move forward into the school year, let us carry this message with us. Let it guide our interactions with students, colleagues, and the entire school community in school and out. The love we show can have a lasting impact, helping students feel valued and remembered long after they leave our classrooms.
We are grateful for the opportunity to start our year with such an enriching day.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, help us continue to support one another and keep the spirit of love at the forefront of everything we do.
We pray for a successful and blessed school year ahead.
Amen
God Bless,
Suzanne
