Christmas lunch at St Bernard’s School

This week, two Year 10 Hallam Young Leaders were selected to assist at St. Bernard’s School, Herringthorpe, for their annual Christmas lunch for the elderly and local parishioners.

It was a wonderful occasion, with around 50 people in attendance.

The hall was filled with joy as parishioners ate, chatted, and laughed together at their tables. The two students played a vital role, helping to serve tea, coffee, and juice, as well as distributing the Christmas dinners—successfully avoiding any gravy spills! After the main course, everyone enjoyed a selection of delicious desserts, including Christmas pudding, chocolate cake, and cookies.

Monsignor Des Sexton joined the festivities, and later Monsignor John Ryan also made an appearance, adding to the sense of community and celebration.

The students expressed their happiness at being chosen to participate in this special event. They thoroughly enjoyed being part of the day and helping to serve food and drinks.

We hope this marks the beginning of many more opportunities for our students to support and serve others within the Hallam Diocese and beyond. It is through events like these that we can share the true spirit of Christmas—bringing joy, warmth, and community to those around us.

Merry Christmas and Blessings upon you and your loved ones.
