Faith in Action: Loving Our Neighbour, Loving Jesus

On 8th January, students from the Year 8 Hallam Faith in Action team gathered here in school alongside peers from All Saints School and their Chaplain, Miss Healy. The session was led by Sue McDonald, the Hallam Youth Director, and focused on the theme, “Loving Our Neighbour is Loving Jesus.”

During the session, Sue encouraged the students to reflect on how we can demonstrate love and kindness to those we do not know, as well as what it means to truly love our neighbour. Together, they explored the example of Jesus’ active and selfless love.

The students also watched an inspiring video about Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, a young man born in 1902 who dedicated his life to helping others with compassion and care. Despite his short life, (he passed away in 1925), his legacy of service and love continues to inspire. He was beatified in May 1990 for his exemplary faith and good work.

The session concluded with a liturgy and a reflection on Matthew 25:31-45, often referred to as the ‘parable of the sheep and the goats’. Sue reminded everyone of the Christian call to take meaningful action in helping those in need. It was a powerful and thought-provoking session that left everyone with a renewed sense of purpose in living out their faith through love and service.

Students are already looking forward to their next meeting next week!

God Bless you and all our students.
