St. Vincent de Paul Feast Day Celebration

On Friday, 27th September, myself and 4 students from our school community gathered with one of the Doncaster primary schools, to celebrate the feast day of St. Vincent de Paul with a special Mass at St Joseph and St Teresa’s church, Woodlands, Doncaster  The day was a profound reminder of the Saint’s legacy of compassion, service, and care for the marginalised, which aligns with the values we strive to instil in our students.

Four students from Year 8 and Year 9 were specially chosen to take part in the liturgical celebration due to their impeccable behaviour and unwavering dedication to the school ethos. Their exemplary conduct both in and out of the classroom made them deserving representatives of our student body. They played a significant role in the Mass, reading the bidding prayers and participating in the Offertory procession, which added a personal and meaningful touch to the celebration.

Fr. Emanuel served as the main celebrant for the Mass, joined by several priests from the Diocese of Hallam. It was a moving and reverent occasion that allowed everyone present to reflect on the life and mission of St. Vincent de Paul, a man known for his tireless work for the poor and his commitment to justice.

We were honoured by the presence of the Hallam SVP director, along with many other representatives from the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVP). Their participation highlighted the ongoing collaboration between our school and the SVP, further encouraging our students to live out the values of generosity and kindness.

After Mass, we were invited to share refreshments in the church hall, providing an opportunity for students to socialise. It was a wonderful chance to meet and engage with the wider community, celebrating our shared values.

In a special activity following the Mass, students were invited to decorate a doorstop, symbolising that our doors are always open to welcome others. This beautiful gesture was a reminder that no one is excluded and that inclusivity is at the heart of both our faith and our Notre Dame School community.

I am extremely proud of our students, for their contributions to this important event.

God Bless.
