On Wednesday 29th January, Professor Steve Armes from the University of Sheffield came into school to speak to A Level and GCSE students about the research he has been carrying out over the last decade. Elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2014, Professor Armes addressed an audience of over 150 students about his work as part of the Cassini space mission, research that has helped NASA develop a greater understanding about potential life on one of Saturn’s moons. Professor Armes also provided some wonderful insight into life as an academic researcher, as well as some interview advice and guidance to our prospective University students. It is hoped that this will be the 1st of many guest lectures we will host in school, as we build on our strong relationship with the University of Sheffield.
