We are busying ourselves with Christmas joy at school and there are lots of things happening in the next couple of weeks that I wanted to make you aware of.
Advent Charitable Giving
On the first week of Advent I shared a message with all year groups about hope. Most of us hope for wonderful things at Christmas time but there are those in our communities that are hoping for a roof over their head or their next meal. During advent we have been collecting for the S6 foodbank and will continue to do so for the next week. If you feel able to contribute, please send any of the following items with your child and they will deposit them in the Salle. I have highlighted the products that the foodbank is particularly in need of at the minute.
- Cereal
- Soup
- Pasta
- Rice
- Tinned tomatoes
- Pasta sauce
- Lentils, beans and pulses
- Tinned meat/fish
- Tinned vegetables
- Tea/coffee
- Tinned fruit
- Biscuits
- UHT milk
- Fruit juice
- Nappies
- Toiletries
- Feminine Hygiene Products
- Baby supplies (especially size 6&7)
Christmas Jumper Day – Tuesday 20th December
On Tuesday of the last week of term we will be having our Christmas Jumper Day. This is a day to get in the festive spirit! Anyone who would like to swap their school jumper for a Christmas jumper on this day is allowed and encouraged to. Students should be in their full uniform other than this. Christmas hats, reindeer antlers, jingle bells etc are all allowed on this day too. If it is festive, they can wear it.
We know not everyone has Christmas jumpers and we don’t want people feeling like they have to go and buy one. If you have any old Christmas jumpers that you have outgrown and you would be happy to donate to school please do and we will ensure these go to people who would like them. Please ask your child to bring it to the RE office at any time. If you would like your child to have one of these please send me an email (jneal@notredame-high.co.uk)
Advent Carol Service – Tuesday 20th December 7pm
It has been 3 years since we have been able to have an advent carol service in person. This is one of my favourite events on our calendar. Our orchestra and choir has been practicing and we would love to invite you to join us on Tuesday 20th at 7pm at St Vincent’s Church, Crookes for our Advent Carol Service. It is always a lovely evening to spend in song and reflection as we approach Christmas Day.
Christmas Services – Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd
Our Christmas services will be held in St John’s again this year. It is always a lovely way to end our year together and look forward to Christmas Day. Our theme for this year is ‘Jesus in a box’ and we will be reflecting on how we need to show our love for Jesus all year round and not just on Christmas Day. Let us not put Jesus in a box with all our other decorations when we are tidying after Christmas.
