Today, July 17th, our school community gathered for a voluntary Mass with the heartwarming theme of “celebration and love one another.” The Mass, held in our school hall (salle), was a touching reminder of the bonds that unite us and the love that flows through our school community.
Fr. Michael from Sacred Heart Parish led the celebration, filling the Salle with his infectious spirit and deep faith. The service began with the hymns ‘My Lighthouse’, setting a joyful tone for the gathering. These hymns, carefully chosen by students echoed the theme of love and unity, resonating deeply with everyone present.
The readings for the Mass were selected by our dedicated 6th Form Chaplaincy Leaders, who did a wonderful job in capturing the essence of the day’s theme. Each passage reminded us of the importance of loving one another, reflecting on the teachings of Christ in a manner both profound and accessible.
The Prayers of the Faithful, written by our young people were read by student volunteers, and expressed the hopes and concerns of our young people with genuine care.
Fr. Michael’s sermon was a beautiful and inspiring reflection on God’s unwavering love for us. He reminded us that, regardless of our actions, God’s love is constant and unfailing. In his unique and cherished manner, Fr. Michael even sang during his homily, a moment that brought smiles and a sense of togetherness to all. His musical interlude was a delightful addition, making the sermon even more memorable and impactful.
As always, Fr. Michael’s presence and participation were key to the Mass’s success. His ability to connect with the students through both word and song is truly special and greatly appreciated by all.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Michael and to all the students and staff involved in organising this beautiful Mass. It is through such events that we are reminded of what makes our school a wonderful place: our commitment to love and support one another.
In love and prayer,
Suzanne
