A Level Results Success

We would like to congratulate our students and staff on another strong set of A Level results.

With grade boundaries being set to return A Level results to ‘pre-pandemic’ levels, we were delighted that almost three out of every ten grades achieved by Notre Dame students this year were either A or A*, an increase on our 2019 results. This included 29 students who gained a clean sweep of A and A* grades.

It is wonderful to see students receiving the hard earned grades that have secured them places for next year with 153 students now having confirmed their university destination.

  • 71 of which are Russell group ( 46%)
  • 2 students admitted to Oxbridge
  • 8 students will be studying Dentistry, Medicine or Veterinary
  • A small number of students are still in clearing.

Mr Birch, Head of 6th Form has sent a special message to all students.

Congratulations to all of you on all that you have achieved over the last two years in our sixth form, it has been my privilege to see you grow and develop into the wonderful young adults you have become.

As you were unable to sit your GCSEs in 2021, this summer’s exams were the first external assessments you have taken. You worked so very hard for these grades and deserve every success, it’s a tremendous achievement.

Even if things didn’t go quite as well as you wanted them to do, remember that these exam results don’t define you as a person, you are much more than a set of grades.

The positive way in which you have approached these most challenging exams is remarkable and will serve you well in later life. You are all exceptional, inspiring, and talented young people and we couldn’t be more proud of you. Best wishes and good luck in your exciting next steps.

God Bless,

Mr Birch

And the final word from some  of the students themselves . . . . . . .

Pearce :Thanks to the diligent efforts of the teachers, I was able to achieve the greatest results that I could have asked for from my final exams and from my time as a whole at Notre Dame. As long as a student earnestly wants to go far, the teachers at Notre Dame truly have the ability and experience to ensure that they are able to go the full distance.

Adah: I am so grateful for all the support Notre Dame has shown me in sixth form, both in school and in doing extra-curricular activities. The teachers and sixth form team were so inspirational and helped me realise my ambitions of going to Cambridge to study music. Notre Dame sixth form is a welcoming friendly environment, especially to someone who joined after going to a different secondary school like I did.

Freddie: Notre dame has helped me reach my full potential so that I can now go on to study what I want at university. I especially want to mention the teachers who went above and beyond to support me during my time at Notre Dame Sixth form: Mr Dransfield for supporting me with my application process, in particular for my interviews; Mr Pinder, Dr Williams, Mr Squire for all being great teachers and helping me prepare for my admission test for university and Miss Gagen for making it possible for me to fully complete 4 subjects.

Sarah: After moving to Notre dame new for 6th form, I felt part of the community quickly. The pastoral support throughout exams made the experience bearable, and allowed me to reach my full potential. I was very pleased with my decision to study here
