I hope that the summer has been a time of rest and relaxation for all of our families but as we prepare for the new school year, I want to share a few key reminders as well as some important information for the start of the new term, with a view to making a good start.

Start of Term

Monday 4th September –  Training Day  –  School closed to all students.

Tuesday 5th September – New Y7 students and external Y12 students only.

Wednesday 6th September – School open for all year groups.

Mobile phones

A reminder that starting from Monday September 4th, Notre Dame will be implementing a new expectation that mobile phones must be turned off and kept out of sight between the hours of 8:55 am and 3:35 pm.

I have complete confidence that the vast majority of our students will quickly adapt to these new expectations however, I kindly request your cooperation in reinforcing these guidelines with your child, emphasising the importance of adhering to the new policy to foster an environment conducive to their academic success.

Under this revised policy, if a student’s mobile phone is seen during the school day or if we become aware that they have been using it, the phone will be confiscated and securely passed on to student reception. It can be collected by the student at the end of the day. If an occasion ever arose where a student refused to hand over their phone, they would be temporarily removed from lessons until they met our expectations. Repeated incidents will involve a stronger response from school which we will make clear next week. The simple message we will be working to is, “See it, hear it, Lose it”.

School meals

Our catering contractors, Taylor Shaw have informed us that the value of a free school meal will be going up by 30p from September and therefore the price of a meal deal is going up by the same amount to £2.54.

Bus Timetable

There have been some changes to routes – information can be found on our website. It is quite normal to have some teething problems at the start of the year with the buses which we usually get sorted quickly during the first week. If you have any concerns, questions or information you feel we need to know then please do not hesitate to contact us.

All Parents – Uniform Donations

If you have a child who has recently left Y11 we would be very grateful for any donations of pre-loved school uniform, this also applies to students in other year groups who may have outgrown theirs.

We have an online marketplace as well as pop-up stalls where all such items are sold.  The donations from any sales go straight back into our school uniform budget to support our families.

If you have any such good quality and clean items of school uniform that will no longer be used, we would be extremely grateful of any donation.  This can include PE kits, shoes and bags, as well as full school uniform items.

Enjoy what is left of the holiday and God bless,

Mrs D Cleary
