The Good Shepherd Liturgy

Recently, Suzanne, along with four dedicated Year 7 students from the Chaplaincy Team, had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Good Shepherd Liturgy at St Peter’s Church in Doncaster. The event was graced by the presence of Bishop Ralph, who was joined by Fr Darren, the parish priest, in a prayerful celebration.

The liturgy was beautifully led by Mr Dewhurst, former headteacher of St Marie’s Primary School and now Director of Primary Schools. His guidance helped create a reflective and joyful atmosphere, enriched by heartfelt hymns and congregational singing. The voices of the young people there, filled the church with angelic song.

The liturgy highlighted the mission of Caritas Diocese of Hallam, formerly known as Hallam Caring Services. Caritas plays a vital role in supporting the Diocese through various projects, including a growing school and community service that offers meaningful support to children, young people, and their families. Additionally, Caritas runs the Carmel Care and Counselling Centre, providing essential counselling services for adults, and two day centres that offer practical assistance to homeless and vulnerable individuals.

The Good Shepherd Appeal, held annually, raises funds to support this important work. It was a privilege to be part of such an event, joining together with other young people from across the Diocese to give thanks and praise to God.

We are truly grateful for the chance to be part of this special occasion. It reminded us of the power of faith, community, and the importance of giving back.

God bless,

Suzanne
