During the enrichment days 80 year 8 students went to Scotland to take part in a retreat at the Rock UK’s Whithaugh Park, Newcastleton, a Christian outdoor retreat centre. While there the students did a 300m zip wire, mountain biking, kayaking, a high ropes course and swimming. It was lovely to be out of the way enjoying the peace and quiet. While there the students explored the meaning behind Philippians 4:6 ‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.’ They spoke about what makes them anxious and then burnt these away on the campfire before turning their attention to what they should thank God for and how that can help them overcome their anxieties.
It was a wonderful time of adventure, prayer and friendship.
