On the Saturday evening of the Easter Vigil Mass, two of our Sixth Form students, Martha and Viola, embraced a spiritual milestone by being received into the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil at St Vincent’s Mission Hub in Sheffield. This chaplaincy building serves as a welcoming ‘home’ for students and young adults across the city.
Martha chose St Josephine Bakhita as her confirmation Saint, honouring a woman of deep faith and resilience. Viola selected St Catherine of Siena, a Doctor of the Church, known for her wisdom and courage. Both young people were surrounded by the love and support of their families during this special occasion and I had the privilege of being a sponsor for Martha.
The Easter Vigil, with symbolism, sacred tradition and the singing of the Psalms, marked the conclusion of their journey into the fullness of the Catholic faith. It was a moving and joyful celebration! We are an Easter people and “Alleluia” is our cry!
After the solemnity of Lent, I have been rejoicing not only in the Resurrection of our Blessed Lord but also in the sweet return of chocolate!
God bless,
Suzanne
